Ada gak terbaca pasal ni melalui emel. Ntah la, x semua info yg kita letak dlm FB benar2 belaka. Mungkin apa yg tertulis tu benar atau mungkin tdk. Maybe Myspace or Tagged or Friendster jeles, so dorg wat mcm2 la utk burukkan Facebook. Alaa...mcm kes roti Gardenia & High 5, saling memburukkan kau aku.

p/s: Siapa dalang disebalik MK ni? Damn! abis rekod seksualiti aku diketahui oleh org2 tertentu...wawawawa :eaea:

Beware of networking scams (ITS FACEBOOK?)

This is a consumer advice column written by the Better Business Bureau of Northern Indiana appearing weekly in Business Monday.

Although social-networking Web sites are a great way to find old classmates, stay connected with friends or even make new friends, hackers have learned how to use sites like Facebook to disseminate viruses or steal identities.

The popularity of social-networking Web sites continues to grow. According to the blog Inside Facebook, as of December, Facebook was growing at a rate of 500,000 new users a day and is approaching 150 million active users.

Facebook estimates that users spend more than 2.6 billion minutes on the site daily.
As a result, scammers are stepping in and plying their trade with these social-networking schemes:
Friend-in-distress scam

One scam that has traveled from phone and e-mail into Facebook is the “friend-in-distress” scam

One scam that has traveled from phone and e-mail into Facebook is the “friend-in-distress” scam.

Facebook users may get a message in their in-box from a friend saying that he or she is in a dire situation - such as stranded in a foreign country - and needs money wired.

The recipient of the message doesn't realize that the friend's account has been hacked and the message was sent by scammers. If the Facebook user wires money to the scammers, he or she has no way of recovering the money after learning that the friend is actually safe and sound.

Phishing friends

One particularly virulent computer virus, called Koobface, has made the social networking-site rounds via MySpace and, most recently, on Facebook in December.
In Faceback, the victim receives a message from a “friend” saying “You look awesome in this video” or “You look funny in this video” and includes a link to an outside Web site to view the video. Clicking on the link will open a window that claims the victim needs to download an updated version of Flash.

Agreeing to the update actually installs the virus onto the victim's computer. The virus is designed to monitor the user's Internet activity and potentially steal personal information. Victims of Koobface have had a particularly difficult time removing the virus and, in some cases, just decided to scrap their computers completely.

Viral wall post

Another recent Facebook scam takes advantage of social networkers' fears that the pictures and information they post on Facebook could be made very public.
The user receives a post on his or her wall from a “friend” saying something like, “hey do u realize your face book picture is all over ”?

Here are tips to stay safe:

♦Be extremely wary of messages from friends or strangers that direct you to another Web site via a hyperlink.

♦Before wiring money to a friend in a jam, try to contact that friend outside the social-networking site, such by phone or e-mail, to confirm the situation.

♦Always make sure your computer's operating system and antivirus and firewall software are up to date.

♦Social networking sites are about sharing information. BBB recommends that you take steps to keep key information private.

♦Be selective when choosing friends. & recommends that it's best to decline a request for friendship if you don't actually know the person.

Yeah, be selective, u dont even knwo that somebody among your circle amik gamba u and sebar2kan..(like we did in FC dont we? hahahah..though it meant nothing but the future damage, only God knows).

Whether its true or not CIA or KGB or any Intelligent Agency and their conspiracy, jangan amik risiko.

Good info from krak, but honestly sejak dari aku mula kenal IT, aku tidak pernah meletakkan mana-mana info adalah benar semata-mata...hanya sekadarnya shj yang betul....even my real name....tp hati aku selalu mahu benar...anyway berhati-hatilaa..sebenarnya tak nanti ancaman dari CIA or what...ancaman dari dekat sebenarnya jauh lebih berbahaya...

cuba ingat kembali la.. masa mula zaman IRC dulu.. kita diingatkan jangan reveal identity, dan kita sangat2 menjaga identiti kita.. nak bagi gambar pun takut.. tapi sekang.. kita serah diri.. so kalau takat IRC tu.. mintak email je sume dah leh dapat..

bagi aku, secara logiknya ada betulnya jugak.

tapi tak tau la utk kegunaan FBI ke apa ke.

sebab alam cyber ni, al-maklumlah kita tak tau sesiapa pun, bila identiti kita semua org tahu, susah sikit..

bila berlaku penipuan, penyamaran siapa nak bertanggung jawab?

mcm facebook aku pernah nak buat, bila aku masukkan nickname pada full name, dia tak terima.

sistem dia bijak & mengesan full name aku ni bukan nama sebenar..

so terpaksa lah aku kena letak nama betul...

akhir sekali aku tak buat pun akaun kat sana...

myspace & friendster... pun aku dah delete...

masih ada cara lain utk mencari kawan, & kenalan lama selain perkhidmatan web seperti ini...

sekdar pendapat individu je ni, mngkin u all lain pula pendapatnya..

sekian... landmark1123heavy menceritakan....
